The pastry chef schools located in New Hampshire have been accepting students for generations, and some of these colleges have achieved top national rankings and recognition. This offers prospective students the unique opportunity to attend some of the best Certification and Associate degree programs available. Currently, there are three campuses that offer training in the creation of desserts, cakes and chocolates – including Southern New Hampshire University, New Hampshire Culinary Institute and Lakes Region Community College.
Located in Manchester, the Southern New Hampshire University has three programs for future pastry chefs. The first option for enrolling students is the Baking Certificate, which is ideal for those who want to pursue an education part time. While theses classes only teach the basics, they provide an excellent foundation for those who want to enter a career in the pastry arts as soon as possible. But after graduation, students can apply the completed credits to the Associate of Science in Baking & Pastry – which contains detailed coursework, hands on training and a formal apprenticeship. And the advantages of enrolling in this program don’t end there! The courses and training are also approved and certified by the American Culinary Federation (ACF), which allows students to receive higher level Certifications through this highly recognized organization.
The New Hampshire Culinary Institute is part of White County Community College, and was started in 1966. Currently they offer students two programs, including a Baking & Pastry Arts Certificate and Associate in Science. However there is one aspect that should be carefully considered prior to enrollment. Both the Certificate and Associate take two years to complete (which is an exception to the rule that certifications are shorter programs.) Finding the best pastry chef educational option will require careful evaluation and consultation with an advisor before beginning classes.
Lakes Region Community colleges offers a one year Certification in Baking and Pastry, for students who want to begin a career as a pastry chef. Compared to other programs, the offered coursework and training prepares graduates for jobs in restaurants, bakeries and catering establishments. Student will take classes related to baking and pastry creation only, which means basics such as nutrition, sanitation and administrative skills will not be covered.
Traditional and non-traditional student who dream of working in a restaurant, resort, casino or other establishments creating delectable desserts, pastries and cakes have a unique educational opportunity in New Hampshire. These colleges offer everything from Certifications to Associate of Science degree programs that are affordable, and can fit into anyone’s schedule. So why wait to start the career of your dreams? Why not enroll and start your pastry chef training today!
