Pastry Chef Schools in Georgia

Fulfilling your dreams of becoming a pastry chef can be challenging when you live in a large state with limited educational opportunities. Traditional culinary arts schools are easy to find in various cities in Georgia – but if you are interested in creating cakes, pies, chocolates and other confectionery creations, finding an institution of higher education can be difficult. Currently, there are 4 pastry chef schools that cater to students looking to pursue a professional career in this competitive niche.

The largest student body and campus can be found at Le Cordon Blue College of the Culinary Arts in Atlanta. Located in Tucker (a suburb of the Atlanta area), their curriculum is a combination of classroom and hands on training, designed to prepare students for finding work in an industry related field. In fact, based on evaluation of the 2009 to 2010 school year, 73.70% of students were able to obtain work from an employer in the industry after graduation.

Two other well known pastry chef courses are offered at The Art Institutes (Culinary) in Atlanta and Culinard. Like the classes offered at Le Cordon Blue, these colleges are fully accredited and are known for their strong Certificate programs in the Pastry Arts. All three choices also offer an excellent learning opportunity, and prospective students should compare and evaluate their options based on location, tuition, classes, student to teacher ratio, and program length.

The fourth opportunity available to student is available at Gwinnett Technical College. However, compared to the previous three choices, the curriculum may not be as strong for those who prefer a pastry chef school that caters to this specific niche. While they do offer a specialized certificate, students should be aware enrollment in the general culinary arts program is required.
