Dedicated pastry chef schools in Alaska currently do not exist. However, there is AVTEC, Alaska’s Institute of Technology that offers a degree in culinary arts technology where you can take advanced pastry arts classes. Their culinary and baking program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Accrediting Commission. The culinary and baking department offers two different areas for certification. The first is Cook/Culinarian which includes advanced cooking, menu development, catering instruction, cuisines, and a la carte cooking. The second is Culinary Baker which is an advanced baking class that includes advanced pastry arts instruction.
